Wood Chipper

Wood Chipper for processing branches, logs, straw, and other biomass materials into uniform wood chips. Suitable for compost preparation, organic fertilizer production, and biomass processing. High-efficiency cutting system provides consistent chip size for downstream crushing and composting.

  • Capacity : 1–20 TPH (Customized)
  • Layout Design Support : Provided
  • Warranty Period : 5-year
  • Certification : CE / ISO / SGS available

Whole logs and mixed wood waste are worth little as they are — as uniform chips, they become biomass fuel, mushroom substrate, paper feedstock, and compost bulking agent. The LANE drum wood chipper converts logs, branches, slabs and board off-cuts into consistent chips in a single continuous pass, with hydraulic feed rollers pulling material in at a controlled rate.

Why Buyers Choose This Wood Chipper

1. Drum design for uniform, saleable chips

Flying knives mounted on a heavy rotating drum slice wood against a fixed anvil at a consistent angle. Chip size stays uniform — the property biomass buyers and substrate producers actually pay for.

2. Hydraulic feed rollers do the pulling

You don’t push material in; powered feed rollers grip and draw it through at a rate matched to the drum. Steadier feeding means steadier chips, lower operator effort, and safer operation.

3. Takes real industrial feedstock

Logs up to Ø300 mm, branches with side limbs, slabs, veneer cores, and board off-cuts — no need to pre-split most material.

4. Adjustable chip length

Change the knife setting / screen configuration to adjust chip length within roughly 10–40 mm, covering biomass boiler specs, substrate specs, and compost bulking in one machine.

5. Heavy-duty build for continuous duty

Steel-plate welded frame, dynamically balanced drum, and replaceable alloy knives. Designed for production shifts, not backyard weekends.

How It Works

  1. Wood is placed on the feed conveyor / chute.
  2. Hydraulic rollers grip the material and feed it into the drum at a controlled speed.
  3. Rotating flying knives slice the wood against the fixed knife (anvil).
  4. Chips pass a sizing screen; uniform chips discharge via belt conveyor or blower spout.

Applications

  • Biomass energy — boiler fuel chips, feedstock for pellet and briquette plants
  • Mushroom cultivation — hardwood chips for substrate production
  • Organic fertilizer & composting — carbon-rich bulking material
  • Paper & board industry — pulp chip preparation
  • Wood processing plants — turning off-cuts and waste into revenue

Wood Chipper vs. Wood Crusher — Which Do You Need?

  • Wood chipper (this page) → clean, uniform chips from logs and branches. Choose it when chip quality matters (biomass sale, substrate, pulp).
  • Wood crusher / shredder → rough shredded wood from mixed or contaminated waste. If your material includes pallets with nails or mixed waste, see our Dual-Shaft Shredder.

Tell us your feedstock and end use — we’ll point you to the right machine, not the more expensive one.

Why Choose LANE

  • Process-matched equipment — as a fertilizer and biomass equipment manufacturer, we configure chip size to your downstream use, whether that’s composting, pelletizing, or substrate.
  • Factory-direct — manufacturer pricing, spare knife sets included, installation and layout drawings provided.
  • Export experience — seaworthy packaging and full export documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can it chip green (fresh) wood?

A: Yes — drum chippers handle green wood well; fresh wood actually cuts more cleanly than bone-dry wood. Both are within normal duty.

Q: What happens if a nail or stone gets in?

A: Tramp metal damages knives on any chipper. For clean logs and branches this isn’t an issue; for demolition wood or pallets, use a dual-shaft shredder, which tolerates contamination far better.

Q: How often do knives need sharpening?

A: Knives are removable for grinding and are reversible/replaceable. Sharpening interval depends on wood species and cleanliness — hardwood and sandy bark shorten it. Spare knife sets ship with every machine.

Q: Can I get chips small enough for pellet production?

A: Chips at 10–40 mm are the standard first stage; pellet plants then hammer-mill chips down to sawdust size. We can quote the chipper alone or the full chipping + milling combination.
