Working Principle

  1. Feeding: Raw materials are continuously fed onto the rotating inclined disc from above or the side
  2. Tumbling & Rolling: As the disc rotates, materials follow a spiral path — lifted by the disc rotation, then tumbling downward due to gravity and inclination. This rolling-tumbling action creates gentle but continuous intermixing
  3. Scraper Assistance: Fixed and adjustable scrapers guide the material flow, preventing buildup on the disc surface and directing material toward the discharge point
  4. Continuous Discharge: Mixed material naturally flows over the disc edge at the lowest point and exits through the discharge chute into a conveyor or directly into the next machine (typically a granulator)

The mixing action is governed by three adjustable variables:

  • Disc speed → controls centrifugal force and material lift height
  • Disc inclination → controls residence time (steeper = faster exit)
  • Scraper position → controls the flow path and discharge point
